Carmine Scalzi is a litigation lawyer and mortgage law specialist whose practice is built around enforcement, priority, and complex commercial disputes. Since his call to the bar in 2006, he has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and before numerous administrative tribunals, advancing complex matters where preparation and resolve determine outcomes.
In 2017, Carmine made a deliberate decision to focus his practice on mortgage law. Since that time, he has argued hundreds of cases involving residential and commercial mortgage disputes, mortgage enforcement remedies, receiverships, and construction lien and priority conflicts. He is known for carrying contested matters through sustained litigation when resolution requires pressure, discipline, and resolve.
Carmine brings deep experience in commercial and civil litigation, reinforced by a practical understanding of the construction and lending landscape. Prior to his call to the bar, he spent nearly a decade as an entrepreneur in the construction and technology sectors, experience that informs his direct, unsentimental approach to litigation and enforcement. He understands how capital is deployed, where risk accumulates, and how pressure must be applied when disputes arise.
In addition to his practice, Carmine has been teaching mortgage law since 2021, reflecting his commitment to both mastery of the subject and the disciplined transmission of that knowledge. His teaching reinforces the analytical rigor and real-world judgment that define his legal work.
